Robbie Wessels

Robbie Wessels is a popular South African Afrikaans singer, songwriter, actor, and filmmaker known for his humour-driven storytelling and distinctive musical style.
Born in Kroonstad in 1980, he studied drama at the Tshwane University of Technology and first gained national recognition through his acting role as Poena Pieterse in the television series Gauteng-alêng-alêng and its spin-off films.
He launched his music career in 2005 with the album “My Vissermanvriend se Pa”, and rose to major fame with the hit song “Leeuloop,” which became a nationwide favourite after featuring in a Vodacom advertising campaign.
Over the years, Robbie has released multiple successful Afrikaans albums and built a reputation for blending comedy, everyday South African life, and heartfelt emotion in his music and performances. He remains one of the most versatile and recognizable entertainers in the Afrikaans entertainment industry.
