Mathys Roets

Mathys Roets is a respected South African Afrikaans singer and television personality known for his deep, soulful voice and emotional ballads.

He first rose to prominence in the 1990s with his acclaimed stage production “Nokturne,” featuring the music of Koos du Plessis.

Over the years, he became widely admired for his interpretations of songs by artists such as Leonard Cohen, Cat Stevens, Neil Diamond, and Roger Whittaker.

Despite a life-changing motorbike accident in 2009 that left him paralyzed from the waist down, Mathys continued performing and inspiring audiences across South Africa with his resilience, warmth, and passion for music. He is also well known as a member of the popular Afrikaans trio “Drie van die Bestes.”
