Deon Groot, also known as Deon Laubscher, was born in Omaruru, Namibia, and is a South African singer and songwriter. He is especially known for his Afrikaans songs released in 2016 under the record label Sony Music.

Some of his nationwide hits include “Gee My Oor,” “Bietjie”,” Lepellê”, “As Ek Net Jou Man Kon Wees”, and “Is Die Koeël Deur Die Kerk”.

Further success followed in 2019 with the Universal Music Group, with songs such as “Wyn”, “Hemelpoorte”, “Toonstoot”, “Los”, “Ek Sweer”, and “Prikkel”.

In 2023, Deon joined the “Vonk” Music Group and released the hits “Die Een and O’lyfie”.
