Piet Pompies
Piet Pompies, born Pieter Rischmüller, a South African singer, entertainer, radio announcer and comedian got his stage name from his radio-colleague, the famous writer and director Mike Heine. When Mike attended his first show, he immediately reminded him of the former entertainer and comedian Piet Pompies aka Peter Van Der Bijl. Seeing the name was again available, Pieter Rischmüller became Piet Pompies, a true South African entertainment personality. Having been the lead singer for the hugely popular South African music group DJ Ossewa, which released more than 10 albums and a multitude of singles, he was also a radio announcer and rugby commentator during this time. In 2014 he decided to set the world alight, entertaining audiences with his foot stomping and pulsating body swaying songs, like Briljantjie (brilliant), Lyf is soos ʼn love song (Body like a love song), Fynbos, Strawberry Vrou (strawberry woman), Engeltjie (little angel), Hard to get, Hoop en Hoop en malverlief (hope and hope and madly in love). His first solo album, called “SOLO”, was released in October 2014 and was played around the world.
