When we started making music in 2002 it did not occur to us to pick one style of music and call that Freshlyground music – we just got into a room and jammed. We didn’t decide to include members from various parts of the continent; we just met each other quite organically… and jammed. We did not have any kind of plan to reach certain milestones, we just wanted to make music together and if that music felt good to us then we wanted to share it with the world.

Nearly two decades later we are still making music we love, we are still jamming across genres and our make up is even more pan-African (still not by design) – and we generally still work without a plan!
