Jak de Priester is an Afrikaans singer and writer. In 2002, he was named the winner of the Crescendo singing competition by the ATKV. Some of his hit songs include “Sally Williams Nougat” and “Groen Mamba.” He also wrote and performed the theme song for KykNET’s soap opera Binnelanders.
Jak de Priester was born as Jako Roux in Parys, in the Free State, where he attended primary school at Laerskool H.F. Verwoerd and completed his matric at the local high school. After school, he initially studied drama at the University of Pretoria, but later switched to general B.A. studies. He obtained a B.A. degree and a Higher Education Diploma, with German and French as his teaching subjects.
